The fruit for the 2008 Lethbridge 'Ménage' Geelong Regional Sauvignon Blanc from the over 30 year old Mount Duneed vineyard - one of the first vineyards to be planted as the wine region re-emerged in the late 1960's and early 1970's. Our aim with this wine is to produce a wine with a strong regional signature within the overall house style made at Lethbridge Wines. The Sauvignon Blanc was hand-picked and the fruit whole bunch pressed using an airbag press with careful oxidative juice handling. Juice was transferred to stainless steel tank and fermentation was conducted by indigenous yeast on full solids. Following fermentation to dryness (21 days), lees stirring was conducted on a daily basis for 30 days. The wine was settled and matured in tank on gross lees for a further 2 months prior to bottling.
