This wine exhibits an attractive blend of delicate pear, blossom and citrus aromas that are complimented by honey, almond and light toast on the palate. The wine is well balanced, showing depth of flavour and good palate weight. Drinks well now or will develop greater complexity over the next 2-3 years. Silver Medal, Geelong Wine Show 2009
This wine is made from Pinot Gris fruit from vines at Leura Park Vineyard in the Geelong region. The fruit was hand-picked and whole bunch pressed using an airbag press with careful oxidative juice handling. Juice was transferred to 80% French barrel without prior clarification. Fermentation was by indigenous yeast on full solids. Following fermentation to dryness, lees stirring was conducted in barrel. The wine was settled and matured in both tank and barrel on gross lees prior to blending and bottling in June 2009.
