| “Deep straw colour with straw hue. Superb, complex nose, with notes of hazelnut, yeast lees, biscuit and cashew, finishing with toasted oak. The palate delivers excellent weight and mouthfeel, with flavours of yeast lees, hazelnut and biscuit. Flavours of almond, cashew and biscuit appear on the palate with toasted oak in the background. Creamy texture. Light, grapefruit and lemon on the back palate, with a spicy aftertaste.“ Cellar 4-5 years (2010-2012)”

| The fruit for this wine comes from over 35 year old vines yielding less than one and half tonne/acre from the Mount Duneed Vineyard in Geelong (one of the first vineyards to be planted as the region re-emerged in the late 1960s and early 1970s). Hand-picked at 13.2 Bé and pH 3.15 in the second week of March, the fruit was whole bunch pressed into French oak barrel (30% new) without prior clarification. Fermentation followed with indigenous yeast. |
| |
| Following the end of fermentation (21 days) lees stirring was conducted on a daily basis in barrel for 20 days. Wines were left in barrel on gross lees for a further 10 months prior to blending and bottling. Extended bottle maturation of this wine will allow the tight complex character of this wine to develop. |
